New Samsung phone goes up in flames. Are they a danger to society?
The Galaxy Note Seven was the worst smartphone launch on record. Most of the handsets released were faulty, even when Samsung claimed they had being fixed. In the end, all Note Seven handsets were recollected and Samsung disabled the remaining available handsets to avoid causing more embarrassment to themselves and harm to customers.
Following the backlash of this PR disaster, Samsung carried out an investigation to find out what really went wrong and discovered that two battery faults caused the phones to set a light. However, during the disaster, Samsung gave little information about what had actually happened to the public or press.
The world's largest smartphone maker, lost over $5 billion dollars over the phone fiasco, which was expected. But, analysts agree that Samsung can afford the costs, given that it is the biggest mobile giant and has a large financial position.

How much damage has the Note Seven done to the company's reputation for future product launches? Mobile distributors, which Samsung relies on to sell its phones, might not bother to stock the phones as they may distrust the quality of the phones. This could be a problem for the upcoming release of the Galaxy Note Eight.
The front-runner, Galaxy S7 is still selling well, proving how people care more about image and brand reputation than phone quality.

The Samsung Galaxy S8, will really need to set fire (not literally) to consumers and allow them to forget about the Note Seven PR disaster. Allowing Samsung to gain momentum and profits for the future of their smartphone business. Or their customers, might go for the better option in the future, the iPhone.
